Children’s Library Remodel
Fall of 2017 brought some changes to our Children’s Library. The room was outdated and the shelving were in serious need of replacement.
I was visiting with Jean at the Whitewater Memorial Library, and commented on some of their lovely book shelves. She explained they had been built by John Claassen. The next thing I know, he has called, and volunteered to build shelves for our Children’s Library. It happened that fast, as things usually do.
Since I would need to remove all the books from the room, it was the perfect time to give the whole room a makeover. I began the scramble of pulling it all together and with the help of Mr. Claassen, Sherri Wedel, Bill Lapan, Erik Magee, and my children, Kaylee and Trenton Taber, we made it happen. Amanda Knowles, also, gave a generous donation to help with the costs.
Mr. Claassen also built two shelves to increase our DVD space. He was so wonderful to work with, and his work is amazing. Thank you Mr. Claassen!
While placing the books back on the shelves I looked over each book, removing from our collection any that were damaged.
I hope you like the way it turned out.
